Take Back Our Union is a campaign to do just that:  We want to take back Local 100 for the membership.  Nearly 10,000 members signed our petitions to put us on the ballot.  TBOU candidates are running for 175 spots in the Officer and Delegate's elections.  Please vote for Take Back Our Union if you want the change we need.  Let's make Local 100 what it once was, a strong, democratic Union able to get good contracts.

TOUSSAINT ADMITS THERE WILL BE NO MTA CONTRACT BEFORE ELECTION.

Roger Toussaint said in January that it would be a matter of a few weeks before we got a contract.  Last week, he announced there would be "no contract" before the election.  Clearly, this means bad news for the members.

Tate, Watt and Roberts are responsible for letting Toussaint decide to put our contract into binding arbitration and make himself the Union's arbitrator.  Not one United Invincible member of the Executive Board said it was wrong to let Toussaint do this.  Its time for a change.

TBOU Candidates Report Great Response from Members in the Shops

5/21/2009

John Samuelsen, Izzy Rivera, Benita Johnson and Angel Giboyeaux,  candidates for the four top spots on Take Back Our Union have been campaigning for weeks at Union workplaces.  "We have been getting a terrific response from the members where ever we go," said Johnson.  According to Samuelsen, "There are places that were cold to us three years ago where now the members are cheering us.  It's truly amazing."

Izzy Rivera, candidate for Secretary-Treasurer, is a bus driver and says, "we will win busses this election."  Angel Giboyeaux, from private lines, commented that his division will play a key role in putting TBOU over the top in the election.  "The members can't wait for the ballots to arrive so they can vote for change," said Giboyeaux.

MILLION DOLLAR CLUB

Tate, Watt and the others running for reelection got more than $1,000,000 in 2008 from the Union.  Now you know why they want to win.  Read it here:

Rebuild Local 100 into a Strong Union

Re-electing the present officers means 3 more years of Toussaint running the Union from behind the scenes.  No one should want that. Voting the entire Take Back Our Union slate will restore Local 100 to what it once was, and can be again - an assertive presence on the bus and subway and in every work place, acting as a front line buffer against management.

The Choice is Clear!

Vote TBOU.

Dues?

Did someone say dues?
When did we join the Teacher's Union?

Here is a recent letter to the Governor and other politicians in Albany
urging them to help the MTA to avoid layoffs of our members.  It is signed by
the President of the Teacher's Union.  It is not signed by either Acting
President Curtis Tate or Already Working for the International and I
Can't Be Bothered Absent President Roger Toussaint.

It's really a sad day when the fight to protect Local 100 jobs is being
led by the Teacher's Union and not Local 100.

NY 1 OFFERS TO HOLD DEBATE
TBOU candidate for president John Samuelsen has accepted the offer from NY! to host a TV debate with Curtis Tate.  We are waiting to see if Tate accepts.  We will update as soon as we have news.

Great News!  Despite the best efforts of Toussaint controlled Election Committee to derail democracy,  the Neutral Monitor overturns Election Committee's wrongful decisions to deny candidates place on ballot.

Neutral Monitor orders Election Committee to put on ballot TBOU's nominations for Division officers for School Bus/Paratransit Division.  Read Monitor's Decision.

Bus Operator Tommy McNally and Station Agent Christine Williams, both TBOU candidates, ruled back on the ballot.  Read Chief Article.  Independent candidate John Ferretti also ruled back on the ballot.  Read Monitor's Decision.

Federal Judge says Union must respect TBOU's right to e-mail membership.

Federal District Court Judge George Daniels ruled this week that email is covered by Federal Law requiring Union to "comply with all reasonable requests to distribute literature by mail or otherwise."  LMRDA 29 U.S.C. 481(c).

TBOU went to court on May 13th.  Neutral Monitor said it was okay for Union to say TBOU could only send two emails to membership.

Judge says TBOU should tell Union how many emails it wants to do, and if Union won't agree, to contact the Court and he will have Union in his court within 24 hours to decide if denial is proper.

UNITED INVINCIBLE VIOLATES RIGHT OF MEMBERS TO SECRET VOTE

Beginning Sunday, May 3rd, members began to get phone calls from someone saying they were doing a survey.  Guess what they wanted to know?  Who the member was voting for in the election.

We have gotten several reports that when told they were going to vote for TBOU candidates the interviewer started to argue with the member and make up lies about TBOU.
